Some school are considered for Title 1 funds by the number of free or reduced lunches counted at the school. These funds provide for extra services for children at Title 1 schools. It is important for parents to sign up even if they don't plan to use the lunch benefit. Santaquin is currently NOT a Title 1 school. Nebo District realizes the importance of Early Childhood education, so allocates some Title 1 funds to provide preschool to children residing in those school boundaries free of charge. Parents need to sign up in early spring for fall enrollment. A brief screening assessment determines those children most needing services. Other children are admitted on a first come, first serve basis. Santaquin has had a Title 1 preschool in the past, but no longer qualifies to have one at their school.
