Welcome to Preschool!

At Santaquin Elementary preschool students come two days per week to preschool, unless they have more critical needs that require a variation of this. This allows us to work more individually and appropriately with each child. Children are grouped with same aged peers and work on age appropriate tasks. Programs are individualized to the student's needs. Parental input is always welcome!

We believe in being as child directed, developmentally appropriate as possible within the framework of meeting each child's individual needs. We are language based and use literature as much as possible to plan activities. Our goals are for each child to become more aware of him/herself, develop a strong, positive self concept, develop a love of good books and stories, increase their play and social skills and just plain enjoy being a kid! We are NOT an academic program, but we work to increase each child's skill level within our regular routine.

Please send your child in clothes that can come home in any condition (wet, colored, with or without food stains, muddy, etc.). There is no telling what we may come up with to do! Please send shoes that are good for play. Also, send a backpack, well marked, daily for notes and projects. We send notes home often to help you in talking with your child about his/her school experience. If there is ANY chance your child might need a change in clothing, please send them along in their back pack (again, well marked, please). If diapers are needed (or anything else--wipes?) please send them also.

Snacks will be provided daily. Students have the opportunity to participate in bringing snack for the class. This is a very positive experience for all of us. The student is able to share with his/her friends. Plan for about 10 children. Please discuss with your child what they would like to bring/share.
